First of all, thanks for even visiting this website. I really appreciate each and every reader. It’s honestly enough just having people interested in my trip and reading what I do - anything else is just extra.

However, if you’re looking to go above and beyond - perhaps because I’ll be out of town on my birthday, or Christmas, or Halloween, or your favorite holiday, or perhaps because you genuinely enjoy reading about candy, or maybe you’re planning a similar trip and my website has helped you plan your own… well, I do offer an opportunity to help support my trip and receive a little something in return!

Now, why are donations so appreciated? Simple: I have a pretty strict budget that is going to require my suffering through a LOT while I’m traveling. I won’t be staying in expensive resorts and eating expensive food; instead, I’ll be staying in the cheapest hostel I can stand, battling cockroaches and spiders (although I think the big hairy spiders might make me run out of the room screaming in fear) and eating street food. I’ll be going without air conditioning and hot showers, direct flights and DirectTV, and expensive museum visits and exciting activities. I might not have the money to make that long trip to the candy factory in Mexico or the cacao plantation in Ecuador, and I might have to skimp on filling my shopping bags with the most expensive candy in France or Switzerland. Especially with the current value of the dollar…

Of course, a dollar still goes a long way. Five dollars is enough to stay in a beautiful cabana on the beach in Thailand and will be more than enough for an upgrade to that long distance train in China. Fifteen dollars will get me more candy than I can eat pretty much everywhere. Fifty dollars will let me take an intra-country flight to that isolated factory or hire a language translator to get the inside story from the candy makers in Laos, Turkey, or China.
