This was a delicious gelatinous candy that I bought in the markets of Bangkok. I believe it is made of rice flour and coconut milk and had a sweet, pudding-like texture. The coconut flavor wasn’t strong, the texture was soft and squishy, and the candy was actually a bit bland. Still, it was strangely addictive, and I actually much preferred this candy to later, similar looking ones I found in Northern Thailand with much stronger tastes and textures.
Also, I’m including a picture of my bike so you can see what has been my most important piece of luggage by far for the last 6 weeks. Yes, that tiny little bag on the back is almost all of my stuff (and trust me - at this point, seeing backpackers waddling around under the weight of enormous 50 pound backacks kind of blows my mind… just pack less people!!)

Oh my goodness!!! I cannot belive just how light you pack! I wish! I probably left the house this morning with twice as much stuff and that was just for the day! (granted most of it was the kid’s stuff! LOL) Stay safe and keep it up. I don’t know if I would have been brave enough to taste such an interesting looking Shrek-like candy : )

I hear you about keeping the motivation to upkeep a travel blog. I feel like the frequency and the quality of my blogs declined the longer I was gone. But, keep at it. It’s worth it. I smile and laugh at things I had forgotten when I go back and read the entries.

Totally agree about the weight of the backpacks. 50 lbs is outrageous. There are washing machines in other countries too.
The little green candy look like a version of krytonite that Superman should avoid!

Malena,
All I can say is wow! Talk about taking a dream and really living it. I’m so impressed that you’ve managed to do what you really wanted- even giving up your job and such to go through with it. You’ve made your fellow “LeBoeufians” proud.

Jenn - glad to hear you’re doing well! And yes, I made some sacrifices to travel and haven’t regretted it one bit!
Malena loves candy. And travel. And both together. And thus, this site was born.
