Want to win a small box of exciting Middle Eastern candy? Guess the different Turkish Delight flavors, get the most correct, and I’ll mail you a little something from the road. Match up flavors to numbers in the picture by this Sunday at 12 noon (my time), but it isn’t as easy as it sounds! The flavors aren’t really normal US ones and some of them are repeated with only small variations, so good luck! Don’t be afraid to get a little creative.
Some rules:-Comment by 12 noon (Sunday) to be considered
-I’ll be screening the comments so you won’t see them until I select the winner. New submissions will invalidate your previous submission.
-If the highest number of matches is a tie, I’ll probably give it to the first respondant. I might be generous and mail out candy to all the winners though!
-Please match up flavors with numbers!
-Previous contest winners are exempt from winning.
-Email me with any questions or concerns.
-You can see the picture larger and without numbers here.
And of course, some hints: The flavors on the right tend towards fruit (not all of them, but most.) There are some repeated flavors between the large gummy blocks and the small. The flavors on the left are more nut/savory than fruit. Don’t forget there are a few repeated flavors with small changes!
Good luck and let the games begin!

I was in Istanbul in 2000 and these wonderful photos brought back great memories of the trip. What an exotic city! Thanks for sharing.

Some of the pieces look like they could be one color or another, but here goes:
1-4: variations of date, pistacho/ walnut, coconut
5: date
6: coconut and date
7: coconut and clove? or cardamon
8: anise/ licorice or blackberry
9: I can’t quite tell the color but if it’s green (it looks a little like it) mint, if it’s brown cardamom or clove
10: rose
11: saffron?
12: coconut and pistacho
13/18: lemon? or orange blossom
And the little cubes look like rose, lemon, orange, maybe blackberry, maybe apple?

Do you have a recipe for menasema..I don’t know how it’s spelled in english.
It’s white sort of like marshmallow, with pistachios, cardamom (hail) and tahini…NOT halva..it’s called menasema…
Malena loves candy. And travel. And both together. And thus, this site was born.
